Kelly, Crow request new information & documents from U.S. Secret Service, Dept. of Homeland Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Wednesday, August 28, Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump Chairman Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Ranking Member Jason Crow (D-CO) wrote to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Acting Director Ronald Rowe seeking new documents and multiple transcribed interviews relevant to the Task Force's investigation into the events surrounding the attempted assassination of the former president during a rally on July 13, 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Documents requested by Chairman Kelly and Ranking Member Crow include:
- All transcripts from interviews conducted by DHS and USSS related to the July 13 event
- A list of all internal inquiries and/or reports underway within DHS and USSS related to the July 13 event
- Documents referring or related to the USSS’s intelligence advance process
- Documents related to the site selection process, security planning for outdoor events, communications planning, counter sniper capabilities, and countersurveillance capabilities
- All communications referring to or between USSS and contractors, DHS employees, and state and local law enforcement
The deadline for the requested information is September 4, 2024.
The letter also requests that USSS personnel including the Local Field Office Special Agent in Charge, Local Field Office Site Agent for the July 13 rally, and the USSS Lead Advance Agent be made available for transcribed interviews with the Task Force.
"The Task Force is investigating all actions by any agency, Department, officer, or employee of the federal government, as well as State and local law enforcement or any other State or local government or private entities or individuals, related to the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania," Kelly and Crow write.
This new letter follows Chairman Kelly and Ranking Member Crow leading a bipartisan Task Force site assessment of the Butler Farm Show grounds and the American Glass Research (AGR) property in Butler, Pa. on Monday, August 26. During the Task Force mission to Butler, Members also held meetings with state and local law enforcement entities that responded alongside the Secret Service during the July 13 assassination attempt.
